Some things do happen once in a lifetime—Heartridge, Hidden Valley, California.

Heartridge is a Queen Anne Victorian of architectural marvel, not only representative of the finest in modern luxury, but a blend of bucolic living and familial semblance.

Located in the “heart” of Hidden Valley, Heartridge is a 6 bedroom, 7 full bathroom 10,000 square foot, under roof manorial estate perched gracefully along the Northwest slope of the Santa Monica mountains. Its mesmerizing pastoral views span the entirety of Hidden Valley and the prominent community of Lake Sherwood.

Typical of the style is the steeply pitched, gabled roof and the asymmetrical shape.

The facade, facing northwest, demonstrates both the architectural coordination and characteristic blend of features distinguishing Heartridge from any, if not all of its architectural order. The cross gabled steep pitched roof, sundry finials and patterned wood shingles shaped into varying patterns and designs, ornate fretwork and brackets, distinguished spandrels, meticulously carved corbels and soaring turrets immediately authenticate its class as a Queene Anne Victorian. The manor’s beige colored exterior radiates a feeling of immediate welcome and warm embrace.

As you make your way up the front stairs, you pass under the estate’s first of many gables—the pedimented porch. Before walking up the stairs you are greeted by hand carved moulded newel posts. To the right, is the grand partial wrap around veranda adorned with an illustrious artisan crafted, wood turned balustrade spanning both the front and the back courtyard terraces.

The foyer immediately picks up where the facade left off. By adding its warm embrace through form, function and elegance. Upon reception, one is immediately greeted with a stately pine checkered floor and an aesthetically stimulating sweeping staircase, perfectly aligned with the space it occupies. Beautiful masterfully carved newels begin the stairs ascent adding substance, flow and grace to the elegant balustrade.

Immediately to the right is the comfortable study replete with a fireplace, a wet bar and seamlessly integrated mahogany wood paneling from floor to ceiling up to the hand carved crown moulded coffered ceiling. Perfect retreat for reading and relaxation, as well as a casual spot for after dinner conversation.

To the left of the grand foyer is the formal dining room suited to entertain twelve guests or more. The room also boasts a sense of gilded charm with the glamour accentuated by a stunning Bohemian crystal chandelier and matching wall sconces providing a gentle and warm incandescent glow of candlelight amidst the lavish crystals. Further adding to the light, is the prominent picture window bringing in natural light from the front porch.

Across from the formal dining room is easy access to the butler’s pantry fully equipped to serve dinner guests with a convenient, unobstructed path to the gourmet kitchen freely flowing to the great room and breakfast nook in its own bay next to the great room with scenic vistas of all of Southern California’s splendor and beauty.

The gourmet kitchen features a fully operational legendary La Cornue Chateau Series stove offering the same attention to detail as Heartridge itself. The 5-Star Chateau series “combines the latest technology with technical and aesthetic features.” Around the corner are full sized porcelain farm style sinks, granite counter tops, oversized island, a Dacor oven and microwave, Fisher & Paykel dishwasher drawers, Subzero refrigerator and refrigerator drawers and freezer drawers fully enclosed behind pine laden custom cabinetry.

The main attraction of interior on level one is the great room. Bringing the outside in, with unmatched and uninterrupted views of the Santa Monica mountains that reach their literal and figurative peak to Sandstone Peak—the highest point of the Santa Monica Mountains. From the great room, the French doors lead you to the patio designed for entertaining or quietly enjoying the serenity of the Santa Monica mountains that cast their magical and mysterious shadows as day turns to dusk.

The upper level is as suited for luxury as it is fit for a pleasant afternoon with the family.

Once upstairs, to the left are the children’s rooms, each with its own touch of adolescent charm and luxury grandeur. One is adorned with a sliding ladder to child’s fortress, suitable for a model train or a game of hide and go seek along with a full sized bath. The other room is situated within one of the homes grand gables, and is equipped with a full sized vanity. Each are equipped with its own full sized bathroom.

On the other side of the children’s rooms is another study / office situated inside the largest of the structure’s towers. Not to be excluded are the two upstairs guest bedrooms and housekeeper’s quarters downstairs. Each of these secondary bedrooms en suite.

Across the landing and down the hall is the Master Suite. A quiet room that leads to the bedroom, his and hers bathroom sinks, a curved glass walk-in shower and a claw-foot bathtub occupying its own unique space in one of the home’s gables—inviting, to say the least.

Around the corner is a state of the art Home theatre fully equipped with the in house audio / visual sound system, which seats up to 10 and not without a fully stocked concession stand, popcorn maker and bar, along with an endless array of movies and assorted candy.

The home is fully equipped and wired with an 180 watt 48 channel Crestron high performance stereo audio and video switching system delivering the highest level of quality sound to every room in the estate distributed as directed. Along with the of the art sound, the Crestron technology also monitors the grounds 24 hours a day with surveillance.

The air circulation is controlled and distribuited by five Aprilaire indoor central air ventilation and cooling systems distributed throughout five separate zones. Each with its own distribution and air handling setting.

Down the back staircase, you’re led to the side of the home passing one of two utility/laundry rooms.

The landscape is a strategically designed, with its own well-pumped irrigation system and fertilization system. The area is primed with water and nutrients for a mature and healthy garden of plums, avocados, apples, lemons, peaches, grapefruit, blueberries, strawberries and an herb and vegetable garden.

Along the pathway towards the mountain views you’ll walk along the deck and the stone set PebbleTec saltwater swimming pool and jacuzzi which sits in harmony with the land that freely flows into the picturesque mountain views.

Across the yard, and under the trellis you’ll find a secluded play area overlooking the valley and the gorgeous mountaintops.

Of course an estate such as this is never quite complete. There’s always something else to be imagined or sought after. The home has fully blueprinted and county approved plans for a full-sized tennis court, guest house and gymnasium.

Not to be outdone, is the luxury doghouse designed exactly like the main house.
